Thanks Scott from Sauchuk Farm for the mouthwatering vision of strawberries

June 6th Market | 2013 Outdoor Season

Program Overview

Culinary Insights | Joanna Farrar of Rye Tavern

4:30 – Chef Demonstration – Grilled Chicken with Farmers’ Market Salad – $10 Suggested donation for a seat at the event goes to support Plymouth Farmers’ Market programming.

This opening week we welcome Rye Tavern chef Joanna Farrar to kick off our Culinary Insights demonstration series. Growing up on a farm in Maine, Joanna brings intimate knowledge about the benefits of cooking with local, farm-raised products. She brings her farm-to-table experience to her menu at the Rye Tavern, and sources from several of Plymouth Farmers’ Market members, including Plato’s Harvest, Web of Life, and Bay End Farm.

Joanna Farrar will prepare a delicate Grilled Chicken on a bed of Farmers’ Market Salad. The healthy protein and fats of the farm fresh chicken unleash the aroma of the morning picked herbs.

See a professional break-down the farm fresh chicken, (without losing a finger) and witness the perfect preparation of this seasonal dish. This will be your chance to ask questions and gather culinary insight for your next kitchen experience.

Make this dish with Joanna’s recipe.

Harvest and Cooks Notes

  • Plymouth Farmers Market

It’s been a tremendous last few weeks getting everything organized for the 2013 season. Come see the fruits of our labor and get all the updates. Meet me at the Market.

  • Plato’s Harvest Organic Farm

    pigs_arrival_13 040

Harvesting : We’ve grown spinach in a big bad way this year, we’ll have lots of it, and swiss chard and beautiful and tender red and green bibb lettuces. Early season kale, collard greens, and possibly baby beets. I’ll have some six packs of early season herbs, marigolds and other seedlings. And, once again, I’m selling market money cards in denominations of $100, with discounts increasing the more you buy.

What’s growing: Weeds! I was really on top of things until all of this rain prevented cultivation. We’re hosting daily weeding parties – inquire at the market and tell all of your friends! The early season onions, beets, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, kale and chard are also growing like weeds. And the heirloom tomatoes, peppers and eggplant, flats and flats of sweet corn, winter squash, melons, and successive plantings of lettuce, spinach, and beets are all beckoning to be in the ground this week. It’s a good thing there are sixteen hours of daylight!

Thanks for your support, and meet me at the market! Dave
