New Vendor!  | Rye Tavern Fresh | 2:30-6:30

Summer Vendor Sneak Peek! We’re excited to join the Plymouth Farmer’s Market for the 2015 Outdoor Season as Rye Tavern Fresh! To celebrate, we will be out on the field this Thursday. Chef Andrew will be grilling up some tasty sliders featuring beef from Whip’s Farm, investors in Rye Tavern. Our grass fed cows are raised in Chiltonville, less than a mile from Rye Tavern. We will also be bringing a variety of house made prepared items to take home.
This week we have pickles, our famous bacon, onion jam, pickled cranberries, cherry peppers and watermelon rind. As we move into the growing season, we will feature a wide variety of canned and prepared foods made with produce from our gardens at Rye and our favorite Plymouth Farmer’s Market farms.
Come meet us at the market!

This month at the May Market…

What will you buy? Bring the BIG wagon – it’s May and we are OUTSIDE!

  • Plato’s Harvest Organic Farm

Busy, busy, busy…. what happened to that nice relaxing winter we had just a few weeks ago? We’ve been busy planting lots of greens, settling in the pigs, getting ready for the cows, and watering, watering, watering. Things are looking great, as long as we can keep water on them. We will have a bumper crop of all kinds of stuff on opening day….

For this week we’ll be bringing lots of baby lettuce, baby, dirty spinach (picked just 5 hours prior), baby napa cabbage (do you notice a theme?), broccoli raab, bags of baby chard and kale and collards, and eggs. I have a few more csa shares to sell, email for details or ask at the market.

Jenny’s Bread and I have a cross promotion:
    1. Buy a bag of spinach and a dozen eggs and get $1 off a package of pie crusts
    2. Buy 2 loaves of bread and get $1 off a dozen eggs.
    What a deal!

Our favorite hometown brewery is having their annual open house this Sat, May 16, from 12-6. There will be great beer, food, and music by one of our favorite farm bands – Whiskey Sunday!  It’s a fun, family-friendly event.

Thursday looks like a beautiful day, hope to see lots of you there! Thanks for your support, and don’t take food from strangers! ~Dave
  • Web of Life Organic Farm

Well after a late start, we are in full swing! Stephanie helps as she can, while she readies herself for college graduation, and a career in nursing. We’re planting every day, and hope to have enough peas to supply the eastern seaboard.

The biggest challenge we face this spring? Our new addition to the farm: O’Malley. He is 8 months old, and we’re unsure if he’ll make it to 9 months. Planting peas, he snags the bag of pea seeds and takes off. Bad dog! After covering cabbage, he grabs 100 ft of row cover in his mouth and tears across the newly planted field. BAD DOG! But yesterday? A glimmer of hope! He spotted a fox eyeballing the chickens, and chased it off the farm!! GOOD, GOOD DOG!!!
Looking forward to being back on the grassy field Thursday. Hope to see you! Meet me at the Market! ~Donna
